Lion's Arch is on your map ONLY IF you start a pre-made character.

If it's really true that you made a brand new roleplaying character and got Lion's Arch on your map without having to travel to it first, then I'm pretty sure it's a bug and you need to report it. That's not how map travel works. You find a place first, then you can map-travel to it.

level 20 role-playing characters had the major towns on the map, however that option was no longer available at this bwe.

Actually I saw it too, a char from the Feb BWE has Lion's Arch on his big map, but the char I created this event does not.

Yes.. but Jan and Feb BWE had the option to create level 20 roleplaying chars that had Denvrai, LA, and Ascalon on the world map. Roleplaying chars this time had to start in pre-searing.. so..
But.. yes, the missions are one way to get to LA. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can always use Mooman's insane map here, and use the exit/entrances of each explorable area to run aaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way to LA. EDIT: as for which missions you have to do to get there. Answer: all of them up to Lion's Arch If you don't want to EVER set foot in an explorable area, there's no possible way to skip missions -- you have to go in order. It's all pretty much laid out for you as the main storyline, so you won't get lost. However, if you DO skip out into the explorable areas, you can jump over huge chunks of the mission list. For example, if you started in Frost Gate and decided to skip those missions, you can just run through explorable areas all the way to LA, and then jump back into the storyline at D'Alessio Seaboard. Level 20 premade roleplaying characters made in Jan and Feb BWE all had Denvrai, LA, and Ascalon. The only difference between the two BWEs was that rp level 20 premades in Jan BWE had a belt and two bags as well as the backpack, while those made in Feb did not. |

You should probably report that as a bug. I almost always play level 20 chars (I figure I'll get enough leveling after release).. so I never really looked at the map on the one level 7 char I got out of pre-searing |
